They can stay in for up to three months. Then you should remove them and let your hair have a rest before having them re-installed.
Synthetic dreads tend to be a bit more stiff, not to mention, scratchy and heavy. Wool dreads are soft, pliable, and look more like well-formed, mature dreads. They are also so lightweight that it's difficult to even know you're wearing them, until they get wet!
Putting in dreads is a very time-consuming process. For a full head of dreads, allow at least 3 - 4 hours if the person installing them has done it before. Double-ended dreads take less time than single-ended, as less are needed.
If you leave them in too long, yes. Your real hair will matt into the dreads, around the securing bands, and into itself. If this isn’t too bad, a good hairdresser may be able to pick it out. If not, you’ll need to get the matted parts cut off.
Dread extensions don’t make your hair fall out. We lose about 100 hairs a day naturally, and these will “stick” to dreads that are braided in, so don’t be alarmed if you notice this more with dreads in!

A DE dread is one dread which is twice the length as your overall style. It is folded in half and this produces two dread ends. When installing, you put the middle/bend of the dread to the scalp and braid down just one side of the dread. DE’s are good for giving more volume to your overall style. They’re also better if you want to hide your natural hair and your roots/scalp.
A SE dread is just one dread with a loop at the top. To install, the hair is threaded through the loop at the top and braided down the length.
SE’s are good to give your style a more believable look, as they lay flatter. This also means they can be more comfortable for first time dread heads. However, due to the fact that they do lay flatter, some times SE installs can look flat and limp. Again, this is also dependent on the dreads themselves. SE installs tend to be lighter than DE’s, but this depends on the amount used.
